The the Call for Papers for the 4th Karl Marx Congress: The Crisis of Neoliberal Capitalism and Necropolitics, to be held on 22–23 January 2027 at NOVA University Lisbon (NOVA FCSH). The congress seeks to examine the crisis of neoliberal capitalism from both historical and theoretical perspectives, while also engaging with contemporary forms of social, political, and cultural activism. Organized by a consortium of research centers and political economy scholars in Portugal, the event will feature plenary lectures and thematic sections on political economy, social transformations, labor and precarity, ecological crisis and ecosocialism, feminism and social reproduction, culture and counter-revolution, and imperialism, war, and genocide.
Proposals are invited in either English or Portuguese and should consist of an abstract of up to 2,000 characters together with a brief biographical note. The submission deadline is 30 June 2026, with notifications scheduled for 30 September 2026. Participation is open and free of charge.
